1998 1.8 astra sport improvements

Hey Guys,

I'm looking at purchasing a 1998 1.8 astra sport and am looking for ideas to improve the performance
of the car.
It will be my first project and as my first car i'm not looking to raise my insurance too much.

I'm not looking to much at anything cosmetically, more to improve performance to help improve my driving skills on some land my friend owns .

I really don't want it to look or sound like a chavvy piece of st lol.

I've heard about something called bluefin(sp?) but havn't been able to find much on the internet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys

Having a higher performance car does not magically help to improve your driving skill. Besides, a 1.8 astra is more than fast enough to get you into trouble if it is your first car. Your best bet if you are a new driver would be save up and get some NCB and then buy a faster car when you can afford it and more importantly have some driving experience.

If you want to learn about car control, go and do a skid pan training session or do an advanced driving course.

Re Bluefin, it's a brand of performance chip but this is really not worth doing on a small naturally aspirated engine as any gains will be very minimal. If you are planning other mods, than a custom map would be far better.
