astravan sportive PROBLEM

I have a y plate astravan sportive 1.7 CDTI .Great little van but recently the light on the dash comes on the one with the car and a spanner on it .It drives for miles and then comes on when it feels like it.
It also seems to lose a bit of engine power when this light comes on.Then the next day its fine .Rather than go to the main dealer and have my PANTS PULLED DOWN!! any of you vauxhall guys have any idea what it might be?

I had this on a combo once, and it was never solved. The AA would plug the computer in and say there was no record. Maybe your breakdown service could have a look? At least it'd be free rather than cost £xx at Vauxhall.
