VW GOLF IV - NO POWER
Discussion
I experienced intermittent loss of power with my Golf IV since last year. I took it to the local VW dealership which performed a diagnositic on it and came up with no faults. They got me to replace the knock sensor, with no results. They also claimed that they had replaced the Mass Air Flow meter with another one for testing purposes, and there was no change, so it couldn't be the MAF. I soldiered on for a few more months. The problem was intermittent, especially when turning round bends or going uphill. Today when I switched it on, there was a spark from the bonnet some place and now thereafter it could not go above 1500 revs. It jerks the way a car would jerk if it had no fuel. Mechanic says fuel pressure (from pump) is fine, but the throttle body unit is not responding and should be replaced. Any ideas whether his diagnosis is correct?
