Astra VXR remap......yes or no?
Discussion
I had my astra vxr mapped at courtenay sport and i also had a front pipe. I saw 271bhp and 310lb/f torque. Check it out here www.courtenaysport.co.uk. The other bonus is I also saw 2mpg better fuel consumption on the cruise.
I had a dreamscience map on mine 18 months ago. All I can say is (apart from the extra power, which is always welcome) it's transformed the car. The map is so much better than the jerky standard one.
The dreamscience map works on standard cars (mine just has a cat back)
If your car is standard and you just want to make it smoother, another alternative is to go for something like the Courtenay sport Phase 1 remap - gives a bit more power than standard and improves the drive loads.

Most the maps will be agressive lol you really need to have good tyres on or be very careful about planting it as if your a bit heavy footed it will make your cornering far worse then it is. In a straight line if your not careful you'll just light up the tyres.
Mines constantly being mapped and unmapped cause I can't decide which I prefer. Need to get a custom jobbie halfway inbetween.
In regrads to a diff people will stand by it as the best possible mod you can do. Standard or not.

My 'burg is mapped by Thorney Motorsport and the map is switchable between 240bhp and 280bhp via the sports button.
I don't like driving with 240bhp anymore lol. The map itself is progressive on the 240 setting and aggressive on the 280 setting. Admittedly, i'm only running Toyo T1-R which are rated middle of the high end class of tyres, and occasionally i light them up, especially when it's cold. But then i have Heavy foot syndrome as well.
I would say do it for the following reasons:
1. Elimates flat spots and lumpy power delivery of the standard map
2. Increased power
3. Better MPG (Mine went from 26 to 33 on motorway drives)

Hi, I was thinking of getting my 'out of warrenty' Astra VXR Re-mapped and maybe new exhaust system ect...my question is, how easy is it to trade in modified cars? will the major garages accept modified cars with no problems or would I have to sell it privately when it comes to the time?
Cheers

Hi is there any diff out there that can make my VXR handle better?
Power is great but any sort of differential out there that can prevent me from going into a tree?
Plenty of choice out there the most common probably both of the ATB versions Quaife and the Wavetrac which I had fitted, slightly better road manners expected of the Wavetrac is the only reason I went for that.Power is great but any sort of differential out there that can prevent me from going into a tree?
As I said on the other thread, look at the tyres first

courtenay sport have been doing just vauxhalls for over 25 years,my own astra vxr is 300bhp and i have never had a single problem with the engine as they make it safe useable power, traction is no issue atall
What were these handling improvements, big help please.Dardani said:
