Exhausts.

Having a look at a potential purchase. The exhaust pipes seem (from photos) to be aligned so that the top pipe sticks out further than the bottom pipe.

Is that normal? Should alarm bells be ringing?

It's a turbo. They're the best!

On my standard exhaust and on the Milltek the top pipe protrudes about 5mm.
(Mine's a tubby!)

That's good news thanks. It's a CAT registered car so I'm having last minute panics.

There doesn't appear to be any specialist vehicle inspection bods available that know there way round a VX. Anyone aware of any company?

Might be worth popping over to vx220.org.uk as the car you're looking at may be known on there.

yeah stick a post up in the VX forum its almost 100% guaranteed that someone will know the car and be able to give you some advice.

The VX220 is one of the few cars that I would buy CAT D. They genuinely are written off with reletively little panel damage. Dont buy it unless you have seen pre repair pics or it can be vouched for on 220.org though. The flipside of them being written off easily is that some of the components (crash box etc) are very very expensive and if they have been rebuilt for profit a lot of the stuff is easy to cut corners on.
