astra gsi 03 plate loosing power

has anyone come across astra gsi's on 03 plate loosing power after coming off a roundabout or going up hill.. this only happens when it has 1/2 tank of fuel or less... just nothing their on the accelerator until the car straightens up....

Sounds like an obvious case of fuel starvation. Could be due to an internal problem of the fuel tank's catch pot, or indeed the fuel return line not directing unused fuel into the catch pot so that eventually when cornering the catch pot becomes empty. You could alternatively have a problem with the fuel pump. These are only suggestions but a good start would be to remove the fuel pump if it is fitted internally to the tank and have a look.

have removed fuel tank cap as suspected fault lies their somewhere.... few metal filings in bottom ... like the guy says its fine when full because it goes over the side of the pot just when emptying , what are the usual remedies for this "new pump"
