2004 astra trouble starting

2004 vauxhall astra-trouble starting only sometimes checked-

leads
plugs
coil

emmision light comes on then goes off after 5-15mins

any ideas please???

Water in fuel? Does it re-start immediately or not?

yeah yeah it does fails first time but 2nd time starts fine, i have no idea wot could be wrong, how can i tell if there is water in the fuel mate??

If it was water it would run for around 5 minutes and then die and refuse to re-start for a while, Long enough for (gravity to make) the water which is heavier than petrol work its way back to the tank, so 20/30 minutes. So think we can rule that out as a cause. If it was the immobiliser it would start and immediately die, so not that. Has the Mgmt light come on recently?

o sorry lol!! err yeah management light has come on it the past but never stays on for tht long (1-2 mins), when the car dont start it sounds like theres no spark or life in the engine, but the second time starts up with no problem??

hmm, sounds like a similar issue i had when i first got my astra 1.7D, turned out to be a issue with the key, they had to re-code it. has been fine since.
Would put key in, turn key to start an die straight away with management light coming on. Turn off, take key out, re-try and it would work fine. ?

If the Mgmt light comes on get the car plugged into a Tech2 and the code read. Code will stay in the system for 17 starts of the car before it is cleared each time. Assuming you have not already done this?
