My V reg Corsa B 997C 12v [beast!] sprung a leak in her radiator yesterday. Causing overheating to go off the scale on a 2 mile journey.

My mate mechanic has taken it off to get tested and quoted for a fix. Been looking at new radiators they range in the £50 mark so thats no problem.

More the problem is the electric engine light came on and could smell burning and could start to see heat rising from the bonnet. Also there was a horrible churning grinding sound when i tried to accelerate and it also seemed to be losing power. Are these all symptoms of a radiator leak :S All came around a bit sudden!

Obviously thats when I stopped driving! Anyway my mate didn't seem to be to upbeat when I told him about the noise and burning. Could anyone give me some advice? Apart from buy a new faster car :P

Try and start it when it is cold. If it sounds and runs fine then no problem. Don't let it run for too long though.

If it makes horrible noises then a new rad is the least of your worries.
