vauxhall 2ltr 8v engine issue
Discussion
Can anyone please please help me.
We have a R reg 2ltr sport frontera, and that had the x2o engine, we have replaced this with ac20 engine from a cavalier.
the engine is in and starts first time every time, but cuts out after around 30 seconds to a minute. the engine will start again first attempt.
We have changed the fuel injectors from old engine, fitted the coil pack and removed the dizzy that was on the donor engine.
we have renewed the coil pack, and the crank sensor but still have the same problems.
anyone able to offer some help please

Sounds like the idle control valve located on the side of the inlet manifold.
Looks like a silver cigar shaped item with a plug on the back.
Usually attaches with two M8 bolts, if you remove it and look inside there should be a silver "spindle" if it's carbonised then the idle control is knackered.
You can clean it up, takes for-ever though, easier to buy a new one and fit it.
You can usually buy them form Partco for a resonable price, the last one I purchased for a cav was £28 plus vat. Fixed a simular fault first time.
Just an idea...

Yeh that would rule the idle control out. Sounds like it's starving for air or the fuel supply is being starved.
May be worth checking the fuel pump manifold and bellows.
Also well worth checking to see if the fuel looks "frothy" on the supply side of the pump, this would indicate that the bellows has failed and is letting in air - or - check the fuel lines are free from air.
This would give you a simular fault.
Again, just an idea...
