corsa rear registration light

on my sister-in-law's Corsa (V Reg), the rear light for lighting up the registration plate has disappeared. The whole mechanism has gone, not just the bulb.

Any thoughts on the best way to replace or put something suitable in its place?

Is it an easy job?

You can buy a whole light unit from Vauxhall... they aren't that expensive. Not too difficult to change. In fact, the boyfriend has just said that we may have a spare one if you want us to look?
