Hi all.

Looking at buying my wife a new (55 plate ish) corsa in the new year. We've had a look at the SXi and like it. A mates got an SXi and is really happy with the performance from the 1.2 and good economy. However we like the the idea of a 1.8 SRI (possibly the 1.4). What, except for engine size, is the difference between the 2 model specifications?? Any comments on either model is appreciated.

There is also a 1.4 SXI. Which will be lower spec than the SRI but higher than the 1.2 SXI.

I know of one for sale: Cruise control, 16" alloys, electric sunroof, silver. 05 plate (£5500 - PM me).

Have you considered the 1.3CDTI SXI/SRI - that better performance than the 1.2 and stunning MPG & £35 a year road tax.

I think they also do a 1.7CDTI (or DTI) that has either 80 -100bhp. Again for similar purchase price.

Hi,

I have a 1.2 Corsa Design and love it!

In my opinion,

Get her the 1.8 SRI. The econemy isnt as good but its quick and still avereges 25mpg when thrashing it.

As mentioned, if you're looking at either 1.2 or 1.4, I'd probably go for the 1.3CDTI. Cheaper to run and just as fast (although it will sound shit). The 1.8 only gets 25mpg? That's pretty rubbish. Nice cars though. Worth considering the Astra 1.8 SRi aswell, as they're just as cheap, and offer an alternative at least, in case you can't find a good Corsa.Btw, we have the 1.0 12v Corsa C, and it's a brilliant car to run about in, and a nice place to be. I can only imagine with really good power, it'd be even better.

Hi,

I used to own a 1.8 SRI and can confirm the fuel economy was appalling. However, it was a hoot to drive and definitely a big increase in performance over the 1.4. In my opinion the 1.3 cdti is the best of the bunch being the best all rounder.

Better late than never.

We decided to play safe and went with the 1.2 SXi. We bought it about a month ago and the misses loves it. Really nippy for a 1.2 and feels solidly built. My wife has put a few hundred miles on it as it's only used for commuting and the school run but has performed well with a reasonable MPG. Compared to the Matiz we traded in it's a completely different animal (for the bettersmile)

We plan on taking it to the lake district (from Cardiff) next month as it does seam to suit motorway driving better than my Astra and has better boot space than my 911.

A few pic's
