astra convertible turbo
Discussion
Can anyone advise me please on the 'real' type of mpg figures for a 2.0 turbo cabrio 2001 to 2005my i.e overall typical values both 'hunted' and 'sensible'!! Huge fan of VX220 but need 4 seats and impressed at performance of astra but do a fair few miles a year!!
Assume similar figures to coupe turbo if any owners of this marque! Heard that vx220 lucky to get above 24mpg combined cycle?
Regards

where did you hear that lol.
I have had my vx220 turbo for over 3 years and have to say the mpg is pretty good. really depends how you drive it. im sure you can hit 20mpg if you rag it none stop but i do know of people getting nearer to 40mpg when driving like miss daisy.
Have to remember that although they have a 2litre turbo/ 2.2litre na, they both only weight 900kg so dont work the engine as much as a chubby astra lol

Just spoke to ny bro who has a vx 220turbo and he averages around 40mpg at legal motorways speeds and early to mid 30's for town driving. On the track days on the full circuit @bedford autodrome he averages late teens/ early 20's.
Ive had an Astra turbo and averaged around 30mpg with a mix of town and m/way. Showing off around town will see you in the late teens. Hope that helps...

pretty much confirming what i had already said. Is your brother a member of the vx220.org.uk? If not I would really recommend joining. There is a HUGE amount of info on there, including how to keep them in top notch condition. best places for servicing etc.
Mines running at 250bhp/250lbft and the fuel consumption aint changed much from standard :-)

im sure the elise/exige drivers would fly past me on the track as i have never tracked mine before so lack of experiance would show me up. mines on standard suspension which is one of the vxt's downfalls on track (compared to the exiges suspension which is quite a bit stiffer) If I was plaing on tracking mine suspension and aftermarket alloys/tires would be the first thing to change. still managed to keep up with a lambo superlagerro on road though :-)
You can see more input on vxt/na/elise/exige laptimes here http://www.pistonheads.com/xforums/topic.asp?h=0&a...
I go to a lot of the events/meets and have been on the forum for years so its quite likely i have spoken to him at one point
