Tappet Noise on Astra

Hi All

My 2001 Astra seems to developed noisy tappets when starting from cold. It's fine once warmed up, I've only had the car since April so not noticed in summer but seems to be more frequent when starting from cold but quietens down within 5 mins...

Last oil change was in May, and I've done about 3k miles since then.

It's the 1.6 8v (not the Ecotec) unit, with my old Fiesta I used to get the tappets adjusted every now and then to quieten it down... Is the same required here?

Its quite common amougst some of the vx engines i have several vxs and they all ratteled on start up even the legendry 2.0 16v, what type of oil are you using? has it just started to do it? and does it only do it on really cold days?
