Hi Guys,

I just purchased this Calibra yesterday, whilst I only paid bottom dollar for it, I am concerned with what the oil pressure gauge is showing.
On returning with the car going along the M25 the needle went round to the far right of the gauge. I noticed no significant change in the drive of the car just wondered what it might be. An oil pump perhaps?

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

Hi, have you checked the oil level? I have personally had this happen when the garage put to much oil in the engine, when I was at motorway speeds the pressure went off the scale, solution was to change the oil at the correct level.

Hopes this helps.

Hi

Before you go down the oil pump route, get he oil pressure checked to see if its the pressure sensor or the guage that may be at fault.

Changing the oil pump is quite a timley and expensive task.

Hi Just bought a 1995 VAUXHALL CALIBRA 2.0i 16V DTM 3dr Coupe Special Eds - When started the oil pressure guage goes right round (180 degrees)

I see this is something not just i have found! Anyone know how to test / find out out what it could be or helps with how i can find out!

What pressure is it actually reading?

All calibra (standard) oil guages are electronic, so easy to change if that's the fault
Mine reads top mark when running 3k revs and over even when oil is hot (4-5 bar)

Should read around 2 ish when idling
