Removing centre console from Mk 4 Astra (2003)

At the moment, my Astra has a hideous mock wood effect centre console and gearknob that I desperately want to get rid of. The gearknob is no problem, I have one of those, but the centre console looks like it might turn into a 'mare. Basically, if anyone knows the best way to get the centre console out, the help would be greatly appreciated.

You mean the whole thing or just the bit around the heater controls?
