vxt tuning-midlands
Discussion
Hi,
having recently purchased a vxt i was woundering if anyone knew of tuning companies in the midlands area for remapping, exhausts etc and any advice on this topic.Having owned a n/a vx for two years i decided i wanted the turbo version after driving a friends turbo,i gather that easy gains can be made on the turbo version without too much expense so if anyone has any advice it would be much apreciated.

Thorney Motorsport in Milton Keynes would appear to be the place to go for VX tuning.

Check out the vx220.org.uk website and forum.
Be warned first though that it is owned and run by Thorney Motorsport themselves... so contains a fair degree of bias to the company, though mostly this is through satisfied customers.
I've used TMS and they did a great job, I will be using them again and would recommend them.
Go stage 2 first, 240 bhp (normally) before you start needing charge coolers etc.

Ok cheers, was looking at the stage 2,seems most sensible option to start with.Have you gone to stage 2 and if so how does it feel compared to standard?
Yup. Faster and smoother.
However unless you're already a driving god, it's already got enough performance... the major factor with the stage 2 is the *much* better sound from the engine due to the Milltek exhaust and the lack of the big hole in the power delivery from the standard map.
The Milltek is quiet on normal use but has a decent bark to it when using full throttle... it's actually incredibly subtle and it's only when you blast through a tunnel or under a bridge that you realise that it's actually quite loud... if you like your exhausts loud, lairy and brain-meltingly resonant then you may want to try a different exhaust. The Milltek is fine for 450 mile trips in a day, it's also quiet enough to get you on all UK track days (which some aftermarket zorsts fail at due to noise). It's a major part of the cost of the Stage 2 conversion, so be sure that the Milltek zorst sound is what you really want before parting with the dosh!
What about regal?Anybody had any of their upgrades? There stages seem to claim higher bhp and torque levels at decent prices.Phase 1-remap,panel filter & iridium spark plugs £480 fitted,243bhp,274lb torque.Phase 2-as phase 1 plus 9 litre side mounted intercooler £1179 fitted,252bhp,311 lb torque.Phase 3-as phase 1 & 2 plus vxr turbocharger £1798 fitted,270bhp,320lb torque. These figures are based on the standard exhaust so would be looking higher if a miltek was fitted for instance.Anyone got any thoughts on these upgrades?
