Just bought a Coupe

Not quite on the same level as most cars on her, but i have just bought an Astra Coupe 2.2, picking it up on Weds.

Does anyone else have one and are there any hints and tips to make ownership easier, also, any other forums to keep an eys on, maybe a Coupe owners site?

Just to remind you of the timing chain problems older 2.2 engines have suffered.
I'm not completely sure of all the details.

But it wouldnt hurt to check the recalls etc if your not aware.

The timing chains had a problem on the first run of the engines (up to 51 plate, but CHECK with dealer). The oil feed to the chain was narrow and could block resulting in a poorly oiled chain, and a few did snap. All the "snapped" ones were repaired under warrenty and a modification to the oil feeder was made. All VX serviced cars should have had the modification as part of their routine service. If no service history with car, get a VX dealer to check it... I beleive there is a "how to tell" on Astra-sport somewhere, or www.astra-sri.co.uk, or www.z22se.co.uk !!
