Hi Gents, Just put my deposit down today on an '06 VXT, with only 107miles on the clock. Pick her up Saturday and can't wait. Used to have a Caterham 7, 140 BHP Roadsport, which was sold two years ago, so really looking forward to getting behind the wheel of a "proper" drivers car again.
Couple of questions:
Are there any regular meets, as I find thats the best way to pick up handy tips etc and oggle loads of cars! (I'm based in Andover)
Also, what is the preffered running in period/rev limit etc on these engines. The Network Q supplying dealer was not a VX 220 specialist, and is finding out, but would appreciate some sound advice.
Any other handy "new owner" tips greatfully received.

Thanks in advance, and looking forward to the whole experience, and some regular posting.

Cheers Rob.

good advice jesigo lol.

Stage 2 is a good increase in performance (around 40bhp) but is a little pricey for starters, stage 1 is a remap for around 20bhp.

First things first though.

As you have barely any miles on the motor I will assume there are no stone chips (fingers crossed) Can I STRONGLY recommened getting armourfend or paintshield fitted, not a huge payout for the amount it will save you in resprays. Mine is COVERED in stonechips on the front clam and only wish I heeded other peoples warnings. (oh well)

Just get used to it as it is before adding performance mods. be a bit carefull in the wet, dont be to worried but just dont give it full throttle as the arse may get away from you.

As mentioned in the other thread, if an when you need to replace pads, do NOT get them changed by Vauxhall, they will charge silly money. Buy some MUCH better Mintex 1144 for fast road use or Mintex 1155 / Pagid RS14 for track work costing less then what Vauxhall charge for OEM pads

The coolant bottle is prone to lots of tiny cracks on the top (like crazy paving) which is caused by UV light. Not a big worry but will need to be replaced once every couple years (bout £20 for the bottle, again Vaux will charge £100 to fit, easy DIY job) you can now purchase a cover from one of the www.vx220.org.uk forum members to solve this issue.

think that will do for now.

anything else, just ask.

Joe
