Brands Hatch - VXR Track Day Today
Discussion
Today I went on a corporate jolly arranged by Vauxhall to Brands Hatch to drive their complete VXR range consisting of The Vectra, Astra, Zafira, Mariva and a 6.0l Monaro.
I thought that the Zafira and Mariva were both excellent cars and considering that they are basically shopping cars they drove really well.
The Monaro was dissapointing to be honest, there was little in it between the Monaro and the Vectra in terms of speed but the Vectra just ate it alive in the corners.
However, the star of the show as the Astra. The speed and handling of the Astra was fantastic, much more suited to the track at Brands Hatch and also the 'mildly moist' track conditions.
All in all though it was a fantastic day and if you ever get the oppertunity to go on one then do it, I must of driven at least 30 laps of the circuit and had Tom Chilton drive me around in a pro-drive Astra which was super quick.
I am so impressed with the VXR range, now I just need to get Gordon Brown to reduce the tax on high powered company cars and I'm in!

I know a few people who were attending today from vxronline.co.uk.
Glad you liked the cars, we have been very impressed with our Vectra hence we bought the Astra.
Personally out of the two my preference would be to always take the Vectra as it is that bit more refined.
Whilst on the subject have seen the pictures in Autoexpress/Autocar of the new Corsa VXR being tested. The VXR Brand Manager has today confirmed over on the above forum that with the exception of the wheels that is indeed the new Corsa (The back end is sensational).

I was told today that the new VXR Corsa was supposed to be brillant.
Good choice on the Vectra by the way, a very very very good all round car.
