Complete overhaul
Discussion
How difficult is it to remove all of the bodywork from the VX? I mean ALL of it - not just the clams but the sills and doors etc. The wrecks to riches program made a big deal of bonding those sill pieces back on again. Has anyone here attempted that before?
Also, anyone know how much for a complete respray?? (Doors and sills included??)
See where I'm going here?! I'm feeling like my car is turning in to a bit of a nail. Don't get me wrong, nothing is mechanically wrong with it, it just seems that the last winter has taken it's toll and the car is showing it's age. That and there are a dozen or so niggly little jobs outstanding which I need to sort out. I'm thinking along the lines of completely dismatling it and doing everything all at once.
Should have done all this over the winter really Mind you there's nothing I hate more than rolling around on the floor under the car on a cold wet day. That and I will have to commute to work whilst the car is out of action!

You will need a nice big space to do this in and somewhere to store/transport the panels.
All would be just unbolting - rear clam/front clam/front bonnet/ etc. You will need to take out your your seats. The sills will however be a PITA as they need to be bonded back on. I think they may have to be cut off????? Remember lining everything up when reassembling will be a PITA to
Why dont you just take her in for a full respray with panels on??? Just take out the tail/headlights then get them to mask everything off???
It will save you so much time.

Do you really want to be doing this to the car right now, summer is on its way, it has to be i made a deal with the devil t'other day to have some sun for a few months so i can enjoy the car, before i forget why i bought it, with all the driving on wet roads at the moment.
Yeah I know. Not the greatest timing. But I've figured that I'm going to have done loads of driving up until Le Mans so if it was out of action for a couple of weeks after then I should survive. That and there will be more motivation to put it back together again!!
Paul - Cheers for the tip
