Who runs a VXT everyday?
Discussion
Dear Mr F.
I ran a VX220 NA everyday for two years without many problems. The heater doesn't work too well on the cold winter mornings and I had a small leak. The seals on the Turbo are much better so many of the problems with leaks have disappeared.
MPG, insurance, servicing are all reasonable for such a performance car, but the rear tyres needed replacing every 5000 miles. (might have just been my driving)
try www.vx220.org.uk for a wealth of information. Try searching for any particular information first though because it is a touchy subject on the board!!!
You will definitely not regret buying one ... I just regret selling mine!

I had my eye on a black one in the classifieds but it got sold today
I'm only a fresh faced 24, but I'm built like a beanpole, with a masochistic nature so I reckon this plan might well be a goer.
It was when I was still at uni, and I won a track day at Bedford Autodrome in the VXTs and it was the sweetest handling car I've ever driven that I got my heart set on one.
Bring it on as they say!
I am not a poof but have to drive 90 miles most days on M25 and M3. Believe me, you do not want to do that in a go cart like the VX.
As a toy, the VX is unbeatable, but not as your every day car.
This is all my opinion of course and others will differ, just make sure you only listen to the people who have actually owned one.
Cheers
G
OK, just to disagree. I use a VXT as an everyday car. I do about 130 miles a day, also M25/M3. I live in N. London and work in Basingstoke.
It's the only thing that offers the performance of a 911 and running costs of an Astra.
As said the heater is rubbish - someone said on VX220.org.uk that it should be described as a volume control. Turning it up makes it louder not hotter.
The range is quite limited at around 200 miles a tankful.
I don't quite use it every day. One week a month I work in the US and then my commute drops from 130 miles to 130 yards as the hotel is next to the office. Those weeks I miss the car.

I own and drive a VXT everyday. Admittedly not far, but everyday rain or shine. I don't mind the fact that the wind noise is high, and that the heater is dire, but if you did then it wouldn't be as good for you.
I enjoy driving it everyday because it makes going slowly fun.
I have had it for nearly 3 years now, and I am not about to chop it in yet.

Simon, that's interesting (an possibly spooky) as the journey I have to take most days is Essex to Basingstoke. Where in Bas do you work? Who For?
As I said, some will say it is fine for that journey and I can understand that point of view. Owning a VX is easily the most fun I have had in a car. But I found it very tiresome on motorways especially in heavy traffic. Now I just sit in my Jag and listen to nothing but the sound of the air conditioning!
