Anyone with any real world experience?

considering one at the moment, in theory lot of performance for themoney, cheap parts and servicing.

Parkers does however list them as 25mpg.

Anyone able to comment from experience on performance, reliability and thirst?

thanks

Just noticed this old topic but I can add my experiences.

I bought a 2012 hatch in 2017 from a VX main dealer.
I chose a 2012 car because the 2009-10 models had issues with timing chains and 4wd and during 2011 VX upgraded the 4wd and the chains, meaning 2011 on cars are far less likely to be troublesome.

It test drove fine but the day I collected it a message appeared saying 'service 4wd' 'service rear axle' so it immediately went back for investigation.
The fault was the pump which powers the clutches to engage the rear wheels. Fixed under warranty (would have cost several hundred in parts, labour and special fluids for the 4wd).

I've been running it ever since and had no issues until last year when a headlamp failed, taking out an upstream electrical component at the same time. That cost about £1400 for parts and labour but any modern car can cost the same for a headlamp replacement.

With its previous owner, it showed low-20s mpg and an average speed in the low-20s, so that'll be the 'urban' figure.
Under my usage it has been used mostly out of town, showing high-30s mpg and high-40s mph.
Bear in mind that most trip computers exaggerate by about 10%, so the reality is probably 20mpg urban, 35mpg extra-urban, and take an average of urban+extra urban of 27.5mpg for mixed driving.

Mine went in for an MoT recently at a different dealer because my local one closed last year. The car passed but with some advisories regarding exhaust mount corrosion and worn fluid-filled bushes.
The VX garage said that parts were not available from VX UK, probably not helped because they feel that PSA don't care about any model built before they took over VX.
The garage said they would have to see if they could get the parts from Germany, but said it could take months and they couldn't promise that they would even get the parts.

So due to having an ageing car with many complex components, no local VX dealer, poor attitude from PSA/VX and possible lack of parts in the future, I decided it was time to part with the car while it was still in a driveable condition and still sellable for a useful amount of money.
