I'm in the market for a VX and i've been shopping around for insurance quotes, I called my broker (who happen to be named after a substance one might use when soldering something) and got a quote with all the discounts of £1,636 - 23, low risk postcode, 5 yrs NCB etc and then thought i'd give tesco a go....[big]£836[/big]

utterly ridiculous, I think that i'm being fleeced on the other 3 cars I have with them...

having said that, big  to tesco who will get my business unless any of you guys can suggest other insurers to try?

How old are you?

I'm 22 (so not exactly an insurer's dream come true) and insurance for me (5yrs NCD and 3 points for speeding) was about £1400 from Elephant. Tesco wouldn't even give me the time of day!

Looks like you were being taken for a big old ride!

I have my Tiger insured fully comp with AF for a very reasonable £150......

Mind you, I am a BIT older than you........

Seriously, try <More than........(Royal and Sun Alliance)

They were over £100 cheaper than Direct Line (who were cheap anyway) at renewal, for Mrs. Wacky Racer's Mercedes.....

Tom - I've just run a quote on an n/a 2.2 via www.norwichuniondirect.com and it was £700 (paying monthly)

I'm pretty happy with that as my focus is £500 now (through NU - cheapest again) so the £200 extra is making the VX look very promising indeed!!

It'll be early summer next year before I look to buy however so it may be even lower by then (assuming no claims etc)

Cheers

Phil

Edited to add: 26, Reasonable postcode, not garaged. no Tracker, manufacturers alarm, 3 years NCB. Plus 1 female driver. Vehicle value £16K.

Ive always saved a bundle going with the small specialists: people like Adrian Flux, Peart Norton etc.

Colleague whos planning to get a 220 turbo just had a quote with Flux that was £250 less than a quote from Tesco

I have 3 years no claims and my last insurance on my VX was from Adrian Flux at £410 having knocked £20 off when I complained

Swapped insurance onto my M5 and it went up to £600
