Looking for some advice please . . .
I've recently had an issue with over revving . . I get to 2000 revs and it was over revving up to 8000 then wouldn't change gear so had to pull over and turn the engine off and on to reset it. this fault then changed slightly as only over revved slightly but then carried on driving as normal,
As with this car it had to go to Vauxhall to have a diagnostic check, engine management light was intermittent but brake light was permanently on
They have come back with the following fault:-
Carry out tech 2 on engine several codes stored not present for crank sensor, fuel trim system and auto box pressure solenoid valves 2 and 5
Along side this fault, which I'm not sure is connected or not:-
No fluid level sensor but if wire earthed warning light still on all wiring comes from the instrument cluster
The quote for all this work is £2138.57
Basically they were telling me to part ex for another car and mine would go off for auction, which I find very hard to believe being the car it is,
Has anyone else had this issue and can offer any advice please?

Are there indies for these cars? I'm not that familiar with Vauxhall dealers any more, but I run an old Mk1 Audi TT as a daily and for this kind of trouble, I'd probably find a decent indy specialist rather than taking it to a main dealer. You might drop on one that is really knowledgeable, but for what I think was a limited-build car, it's likely that the main agent won't have that much experience.

Any owners club with a forum that might help more? You could try vxronline.co.uk - no idea what they're like, but someone there might point you in the right direction.

Post on the HSV & Monaro forum on here and I'm sure you'll get better assistance than you will from a Vauxhall dealer, including recommendations on independents that may be able to help.

Thank you both for your help!
Just got a break down of parts . .
Transmission Valve £1891.20
Transmission Oil £49.20
Sensor £139.20
Plus they forgot to add labour as well which is £589.70 . .
I have a local garage looking into it for me first but could really do with some names of Specialists :-)

Did you get this sorted? I've come across Griffin Autos in Ampthill Bedfordshire. Seem like decent guys.

Not fixed yet unfortunately . .
We tried a new battery, on some advice, but didn't make a difference,
We're going to head to the nearest specialists in Chester as soon as we can,
