Hi guys just looking some advice?
So I bought a car privately last week it’s a 2007 1.7cdti Astra sxi very clean and good going motor.
It was bought from a guy not far from where I lived and the car had supposedly had a new clutch and flywheel fitted the month previous and had no problems according to the previous owner.
So I took the car for a long run when I got it home and all seemed fine probably about forty mile or so and then stopped in to the shop for ten minutes. Come out to the air and put it in reverse and it’s hard to find the gear. Find it eventually and go to pull out the the space and car is a bit juddery. I decide to go on anyway as I thought it was just me getting used to the car.
Change up to second with a crunch and pull over car is now making a noise when in neutral which goes away when you floor the clutch but comes back when foot is lifted. Limped it home and it seemed to straighten out but then go for third and can’t find any gears?
Guy I bought it off is no help won’t answer phone etc I spent a good bit on the car and I know it’s a subframe out job for clutch/gearbox anyone any ideas on what it could be? And the cost?

I’ve recently changed my dual mass and clutch on my combo van same engine and gearbox.
Is it a rattle type noise you get? Sounds like the dual mass flywheel is finished, they are not cheap ! If you do change it and clutch also change the concentric slave cylinder while box is off and crankshaft seal mine was weeping and think that’s why I was getting judder.
What’s the mileage ?

Okay so was eventually talking to guy I bought it off. He says clutch , flywheel and slave cylinder were all done a month ago and gave me the number of the mechanic. He also mentioned that he put a solid flywheel in? I didn’t think they worked with Vauxhall’s?
