Vauxhall astra 1.4 sxi 59 plate breaking problem

Hi all, I am having a problem with my breaks. The ABS light comes on and off but mostly stays on. Sometimes when breaking the engine cuts out & now sometimes it is as if when breaking the breaks are going into skid mode and the breaks are jumping which is stopping the car from breaking. Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have any idea what it could be?

ABS sensor? I had a duff one on my VXR8 recently & whilst the engine didn't cut out it did out the EML & TC lights on. Get the fault codes read & away you go.

P.s. they're brakes. I thought you were scrapping your car & having trouble stripping it.
