Tigra roof fuse /short

My wife owns a 57 tigra
The roof stopped working, so I followed the instructions regarding cleaning the carbon disks on the switch and great it worked a treat.
The next day I washed the car, and now the roof will not function and the fuse (29) keeps blowing indicating a short.
When I reverse the car off the drive it beeps at me, as if the roof is not closed properly.
Previously the passenger side roof clamp wasn't working properly so I have lubed both.
Anyone experienced this? I'm concerned about water getting into the roof electrics causing the short.
And advice gratefully received, I've disconnected the batter for now.
