I can smell what appears to be burning oil in the cab, even just after a casual drive.

There's no leaks on the floor, and the oil is hovering around the halfway mark and isn't moving. I topped it up last week with a litre just to make sure.

I've checked all in the engine bay, and all around the turbo for any signs of leaks on pipes etc and cant find any. I took it for a blast last week and despite nearly burning my eyeballs off on the heat from the turbo, I can totally confirm the smell is coming from the drivers side of the engine, timing chain area. Still cant see any obvious leaks, but cant see much down that way anyway because of the big airflow pipe that cuts across the top.

Someone suggested PAS fluid, so I checked this just now. Im not sure if i did it right, but i checked it from cold. The level was a tiny tiny bit below the minimum mark on the stick. Thing is, there is such an insignificant amount of difference between min & max on the stick, and the reservoir isn't dry, that i suspect a few drops alone would bring it to the max.

Saying that, i'm unsure if the steering has felt a little heavy lately but i might just be imagining things.

Although if it was leaking, i'd expect a puddle somewhere, and yet there's nothing.

Odd.

There's no smoke out of the back under load either.

Car is 2007 model with 40,000 on the clock.

Any ideas?

Various 2.0 litre engines have breather pipe failures. No oil leaks just the smell of oil fumes. It might be a similar issue on the vectra. No idea where the breather is located sorry.
