Insignia 2.0 Turbo ??
Discussion
I keep finding myself drawn to second hand examples of the Insignia 2.0 turbo, a rare Q car with the 217BHP engine. Especially in SRI trim, it looks good and appears to well and £7 or £8K gets you a really low mileage 2009/2010 car. I wonder if it might make a sensible but enjoyable family car.
Has anyone driven/owned one? Are they any good? the only test I could find is an old Performance car review from December 2008 which actually said it was an outstanding all rounder....

I would also be interested In others views of this model. The other half presently has the diesel 160 SRI nav estate and I am really impressed with it, so much so that I am looking at the Turbo for my next car. Only problem, as you have probably found and the reason for the lack of replies, is that they are very rare.
[quote=cb555]I have a 2008 sri. Great car. only has 38k miles on it. This is my second one. first one was ever rarer. It was a 4x4 auto.
Any questions just ask[/quot
Thanks I will if you don't mind. 1) does it feel like it has over 200 BHP? The Insignia is a heavy car and there are no road test figures for it anywhere. I am guessing 0-100 in around 17-18 seconds because that's what the 217 BHP Mondeo 2.5T does. Does it feel firm and sporty and not too "barge like"..?
I am interested in one of these or an older Mondeo ST220 or a Mondeo 2.5T (again cheaper). The Insignia costs more, but in my eyes is a better looker than the Mondeo MK4 and I suspect better on fuel. The ST Mondeo engine likes a drink, I am led to believe the Insignia can crack 32/33 MPG on a run...

It can feel barge like. But if you press the sport button everything tightens up. The throttle response is better the steering and suspension firms up so is fun on the B roads. Leave it in normal or touring mode and its good on the motorway.
I get about 27mpg around the doors and the occasional motorway run. So over 30mpg on a run is achievable.
Might be considering selling mine soon.
