hi all,

im looking to purchase a new car real soon, and have nearly decided upon an insignia 2.0 cdti 140bhp (98g/gm) sri.

Vauxhall claim that the combined fuel economy is 76mpg on a combined cycle.

im just wondering if anyone has some real road experience with this vehicle/engine combination.

any feedback would be great.

Thanks

Only if you do a LOT of motorway driving and have the lightest of feet. The insignias are very heavy cars. Ive got a 160cdti and get around 45 combined, 35 if I do a lot of town driving. The newer ones are better but not that much better. The loss in power down to 140 will result in you having to push the car harder too.

They're great cars but the economy is shocking on anything other than motorway - I get 50mpg with a heavy foot on there. Some people have achieved the stated figures though.
