Change plugs with coil pack?
Discussion
Hi,
Driving our vectra 1.8, and the car goes into limp home mode, EML on. Thought great, and limped it 4 miles home. Checked on the diag tool, and get cylinder 3 misfire. Luckily, i have access to another 1.8 vectra so swapped the coil pack over, and the car runs fine. So an easy fix i think - dealer wants £147+vat for a new coil - or its try eurocarparts at £133. Anyway, my question is, should I change the spark plugs at the same time. Could a faulty plug have caused the coil to "push" more volts to overcome the spark gap, and hence overheated and caused the coil to become faulty - or am i sprouting complete bks, and coils just breakdown over time, and replacement is inevitable. Car is a 57 plate, with around 60k on the clock.
Answers on a postcard - or preferebly on this thread pls.
