'05 Corsa rear window issues?

Evening all,
Just wondering if anyone knows of any common faults with Corsa's ranging from '05-07.
A friends rear window smashed in to a million pieces tonight when the rear heater was put on. It had been making a strange noise for a while but thought nothing of it. All of a sudden it just went. The same thing happened to another friend last year.
I'm not sure if it is linked to the cold weather but just curious to see if anyone else has had the same issue?
