1.8 16v auto zafira A x reg ignition barrel problem....

Hello everyone.heres the problem so far.
The Wife has zafira A,
auto 1.8 16v.
Somehow car got turned of by my cousin whilst in gear and he snapped barrel in process (the twit).
I have taken of old barrel and barrel housing and replaced that all.(just barrel and key not fob transponder tho)
then swapped old chip over to replacement key... changed ignition switch cos it looked a bit ropey and now it cranks but wont fire up?? I didnt take battery of car if that helps any diagnosis??? Desperate for help as I cant afford the garage. Thanks in advance
