Astra 1.7 CDTI wont start

Hi there,
I have a 55 plate astra, 1.7cdti with just over 80k on the clock. Ive had the car nearly a year now without any problems until this morning. I went to start the car and it cranked maybe for half a second, stopped and then cranked again for half a second and so on. This is all with the key fully turned. Dont think the battery is flat as all the electronics work when the ignition on. Just wondering if anyone had any idea what the problem was, or theyve had the same problem
