THIS http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-VX220-RED-CONVE... is not too far away from me, and looks great, but with only 13,000 miles in 9 years, it's stood more than been used.

My question is would this have any detrimental effects, or not, i.e. do they suffer from being sootd (albeit undercover), or is it going to be as sweet as a nut at that mileage ?

Guess the tyres might be a bit old?

Looks great in the pics and I can't think of anything too detrimental (I'm no expert!).

Looks fantastic but would expect it to have a high reserve looking at prices on autotrader.

I saw that car earlier and it does look very clean! Would be a great buy at £7500 if it goes for that.

I don't think there is anything particularly specific to look out for on a VX that hasn't been used regularly other than normal stuff like tyres as said above.

Brake discs might also be rusted to hell but they are cheap as chips on the VX anyway; in the region of £25 each IIRC!

www.vx220.org.uk is the place to ask for detailed info. Someone on there may even know the car as the VX220 community is quite small and close knit.

I've been and had a look, and it's cleaner than a clean thing, truly a high days and holidays car, never goes out in the rain etc. hence the low mileage. Lots of paperwork to back it up, and it's really been cosseted. Going to be a great (and bargain) buy for someone, as it's got a very sensible reserve on it.

I bought my VX with 16000 on the clock last year and it wasn an 03 plate. I have since put nearly 10000 miles on it and at present it doesn't miss a beat. As long as it has been serviced regularly then there should not be any problems as it is just a bulk made vauxhall engine after all. If it has a wealth of paperwork and a fully stamped service book then everything should be OK. I would say it was worth £9-9.5k but as it's winter someone might pick up a bargain. I am a member on VX220.org.uk but not a frequent poster, but I can say that they are all very helpful on there! smile

Ive put 32000 miles on mine in the last 15 months....! only missed a beat with things that can go on any other car, and not been expencive to repair or service either.

The market is very slow for selling hem at the moment, and prices have dropped alot, mine is advertised on here, Ebay and Gumtree (gotta try) as i need something with more space, and even as the cheapest around it hasn't sold yet... wrong time of the year

they are enthuasiast owned cars, so 99 times out of a 100 they will be cared for, there is the odd dog about, but the cheap ones and miles (high or low) shouldnt put you off.
