Just driven past the dealership and (not that I'm in the market for either a VX or a Chevvy) noticed out of the corner of my eye that the place seems deserted, not a car in sight. Shutting down?

Bought my first 'new' car from Bellinger in Abingdon, a 1988 Vauxhall Nova 1.2 Diamond, probably the cheapest car to run that I've owned, sold 6 years later with 135k on the clock, still on it's second set of tyres!!!

If it is on the way out, will be sad. It is a reasonable size dealer, and I had a good experience long ago as owner of an H reg Cav SRI. I had just bought it from Surrey, and after only a trip down to the New Forest with our caravan on the back, we suffered severe misfiring on the M27 on our return. Struggled home, and took it to Bellingers the next day. The SM had the car put on the diagnostic and could find no fault codes, and advised us to check the fuel tank for contamination. She refused to accept any payment as they didn't find anything. Star lady and if I had stayed with the VX brand there is no doubt I would have bought from them. (turned out there was water in the fuel, and I just drained a small amount from the short pipe twixt tank & pump - out came rusty watery muck. After that it was fine)
Always looks/looked busy there, nice range of new & used cars obviously mainly VX but also quite a few other makes, all the cars always looked well-presented.
If it has gone, shame.

I bought my Vectra at the larger Grove branch in 2004. Pleased with both the service and the deal. They were still a family owned business as opposed to one of the larger groups IIRC. They always used to carry the more interesting models/specs as opposed to the more run of the mill base spec Astras and Corsas.

Went through Abingdon this morning, first time since my thread starter. All seems in order, loads of cars there, business seemingly as normal. Must have been some sort of refit! Anyone who happens to work there, from the cleaner(s) right up to the top, my apologies for thinking it had all come to an end.
