So I've had my Corsa for about 9 months now, and over the last 2 months its been flashing an 'F' intermittently and refuses to start. First few times, a mate was with me who knew a bit about automatics and he whacked the start motor and got it going(i know!).

Since then, it completely died on me in a car park, thought id get AA to come down to at least look at it and get it going - the guy put a computer on it - nothing, after 45 mins he got it going and told me to get the motors checked and get it to a garage asap. after about 45 mins of driving back him in n traffic, the car actually this time conks whilst still running and start displaying the flashing F on the dash again.. called AA back, a different guy this time who apparently tightened up the crankshaft but still didnt start, got towed home. Weirdly, I tried it again when we got it home and it started up.

Drove it to a VX garage, they did a quick check on it and all they found was that there was a prob with the radiator fan which is why the cars has been over heating recently but they couldnt pin point what the F was... and as the car was running whilst it was at VX, all they could do was to run a more expensive engine check on it, i decided to leave it for now and find someone else who could do that for me. However, after getting it home and making a few short journeys, its now again failed to start and just displays an F.

So anyone ever had this issue with a Corsa? Its just sitting outside, I bout it for 1450 back in october and just wana get rid, but obviously cant if it doesnt even move.

The 'F' re;ates to the gearbox side of things. They can suffer with ECU's, or the hydraulic actuator motor which selects the gears knackers due to people not changing the clutch fluid. Bet you its black if you were to get it inspected.

You took it to Vauxhall, and they didnt know what the symbol on the dash meant? Seriously?

problems seem just a bit too common on (ZF) easytronics - have read about some mechanics refusing to touch them!... tiz reason I got a conventional auto vauxhall (gearbox supplied by a division of Toyota) as I weighed things up & came to decision loss in mpg would be made up by lower garage bills
