currently trying to decide between a very nearly new VX NA or an Elise most likely standard might stretch to 111s.

to the drivers of the VX at the moment, how much does the badge bother you?
if at all, currently running a pug so not been a badge snob up till now, just wondering what people say and does it bother you all with someone saying oh it is a vauxhall when they get closer?

i know this is a subjective question and one i can only answer myself and i am not sure at moment, but is the VX a better car than a S1 Elise and how much different is it to the S2 Elise?

one thing on the VX side is a garage near my house specialising in them and another down the road from where i work.

will be trying out VX next weekend so will see what it is all like very soon

Not one bit. I know how good the car is, doesn't matter what the badge says.

Never had that comment.

Those who know enough about cars know about it's lineage and how good it is.
Those who don't know much about cars aren't interested in the badge and only comment on the car itself.

The only negative comment I have ever had is from my girlfriend cos it's difficult to get in and out

Test drive them all, this is a question that only you can answer. I made my choice (VX or Elise) and have no reason to change.

Two reasons I chose a VX (I have an n/a not a turbo)
1. Bigger engine. The cars all have a similar performance and I felt that a 2.2ltr (ecotec) engine would be less stressed than a 1.8ltr (rover) engine.
2. Price. When I bought mine, the same money would buy a 1 year old VX or a 4 year old Elise.

The main question is whether to buy a VX/S1/S2 at all. Which one to buy is less important They are all great cars.

Picador in Southampton (Sholing) is highly recommended my many owners (myself included).

Thought I'd add my 2 cents too. The badge only bothered me in pub conversations. Other than that, no problems, and (in fact) I'd rather be in the VX than an Elise. As it's a rare sight on the roads (particularly where I live in comparison to the Elise!), it got a lot of looks. Far more than the Elises do, in fact.

Also - is it better than the S1 Elise? Yes. It's newer, and so the car's been developed from the S1's starting point. Compared to the VX, the S1's roof is a joke (it's like putting up a tent). It's not as well built (although this'll vary from car to car - I'm sure that there are S1s that are better built than VXs).

Compared to the S2 Elise? They're pretty much the same, to be honest. The VX pulls stronger in third than the Elise, and the engine's a lot more civilised.

My advice? Drive all three, and see which one you prefer. I did, and went for the VX. Most of the other VX owners have done the same - I don't know if Elise owners bothered to try the VX first tho!
