Hi, I need help please!

This is the long, long story broken down:

The car is a 2003/53 Vectra 2.0 DTI 16v.

I broke the engine. Lots of nasty noises from the bottom end.
I have replaced the engine with a second-hand one.
The engine is fitted and everything is connected.

The car won’t start.

The problem seems to be that the diesel pump won’t talk to the car, although I could be wrong.

I have the original engine which is still fitted with the original pump.
I have all the documentation for the car with all the original codes etc.

So, I have two questions:
1. What is the most cost-effective way of getting the car running again?
2. Can anyone recommend a specialist who knows what they are doing?

I can trailer the car anywhere between Norfolk and Berkshire.

Thanks in advance people.

You'll need to get the old ECU 'divorced' from the car and divorce the one from the new engine then pair the new engine to the car. Most Vauxhall dealers will be able to do this with Tech2 but you will need the car pass with the codes on for both cars.

Thanks for the reply.

My mechanic has connected a Tech2 machine to the car, but to no avail.

I have no details for the donor car, but do have the car pass for mine. Can I source the details of the donor car by giving the Vauxhall dealer the new engine number?

As far as I know you'll need the chassis number. Might be an idea to go have a chat with a dealer and see what they can sort out for you.
