Hi

We have a 56 plate Astra Diesel 1.9 CDTI. Today it feels as if the power has all but disappeared and it’s a hard job to get it over 70mph. The yellow engine/emissions warning light has come on too.

Would really appreciate it if anyone could shed any light on the matter.

Many Thanks

Em

Your cars going in to limp home mode to try and protect the engine due to a part failure. You need to get the codes stored on the ECU read to see what the problem is. When the cars in limp home mode its not advisable to drive it.

hold brake and throttle down, switch ignition on, the odometer should show the codes, post them here or so a search for OBD II and the code.

And I'd suggest it's an EGR valve failed.

But, get the codes checked out first.

The codes came back with ecn 1125 which is something to do with the Throttle Actuator. Have since started it up and ran it up to 80mph and it hasnt happened again (sometime only loses power once it gets to 65-70mph). I read in some forums that you need to check all the connectors and maybe do a bit of re soldering and it should be ok. Hopefully it will run ok until the weekend then we can go over it and clean out the EGR valve at the same time.

Thanks for the responses
