AFAIK there is no plug or source to connect my Ipod to the stereo, is there a plug available on later models? And if so would able to do a straight swap with my unit and keep all the functions (steering wheel, top display etc)
I dont like the Itrip where it runs through a stereo station as when going distance it picks up interferance.

Cheers

No factory fit stereo from that age vectra will have the ability to run an iPod through it.

The only one that could was later spec CD 70 Navi units, but even then it was via a 3.5mm jack.

They stereos between earlier Vectras and later ones are not interchangeable. Earlier cars ( known as half canbus ) have three buttons on either side of the steering wheel and radio numbers CDR followed by the model number. Later ( full Canbus ) cars had roller wheels and buttons, the stereo models were CD something.

If you want full iPod connectivity, then an aftermarket head unit is the best way.

2004 will be half can-bus so it's going to be either a CDR2005, CCR2006, NCDC2013 or NCDC2015. The later being sat-nav models. The CDR2005 can have an aux-in fitted but it does involve some soldering and taking the unit apart to get at the boards inside and burning a completely blank CD. As far as I know it can't be done to the CCR2006, or the NCDC units but you can use a wired FM modulator and run it from another switch so it switches from the aerial to the modulator instead, just tune to the right frequency. If you do go down this path then make sure you get a good one, stay away from the cheap units. Thought about looking into a Parrot bluetooth kit? A couple of them do aux input too from memory sticks or iPods. Might be worth a look at too if budget isn't a concern.
