Can anyone advise when the cambelt needs to be changed on a 1.8 petrol astra H 2005? Mines done 50k so im thinking it will need it soon? Does the water pump need changing at the same time?

What am i looking at price wise?

5 years or 60k so in "age" your over due but mileage your not.... I would change it asap tho as age. Yes the water pump is on the cambelt, if you don't do water pump and only do the cambelt your wasting your money.... cambelt kit (rollers and tensioner) and water pump smile

My astra vxr is a 56 plate I had that done in Sept as it was 5 years old then although the mileage was only 19k from new....

Not wanting to hijack this thread but can someone in the know clear up an issue.

I'm looking at getting a 55 Reg 1.6 Astra SXi. My sister has a 55 Reg 1.6 Astra Life and was told by the garage she has a chain cam and doesn't need to worry about the belt.

Now I asked the salesman about the SXi and he's told me it has a belt. Also it being a 28,000 it isn't due until either 90k miles or 10 years.

Anyone clear up whether it has a belt or not? Whether I should tell my sister to get hers checked out? Is it 5 or 10 years to get them changed?

the 1.6 astra h engine has a belt not a chain i think yours is a twinport z16xep? ive just checked the service book for my 2009 1.6 sxi z16xer & the cambelt needs changing at 10 years or 100,000 miles, probly best to change it at 60k for peace of mind hope that helps smile
