Hi All,

I have a problem with my wife's 1.2 Corsa.

Her heating packed up last year - we've tried flushing it through and it runs reasonably hot for a few days but then returns to being cold (which in these temperatures is not great!)

I've taken it to the local garage where they have told me that, having chnaged the thermostat that it must be the Heater Matrix that has gone. Listening to my Dad (H6 CJF) he has pointed out that the chances are that due to the nature of heater matrix's that actually the problem is probably an air lock. But we have tried, unsuccesfully, in the past to rid the car of it's airlock but to no avail.

Is this a known fault with Corsas of this age/model? Any suggestions of what to do that isn't likely to result in m (or most likely Dad & Brother) removing the entire dashboard and fittign a new heater matrix?

Cheers!

Just bumping this in the same way in which SWMBO does other vehicles in a supermarket car park...

If the matrix was blocked it'd never get hot.
If the matrix was knackered you'd be loosing coolant and have a wet floor.

Usually Vx engines are fairly easy to bleed, open the vents in the car, blower motor on, from empty overfill the expansion tank by about 1", run it up, when the stat opens the level will drop , top up as needed.. usually wait until fan kicks in then stick the cap on and job done.

Is it coming up to temperature ok? getting hot ?
