They're solid cars with solid engines. Which age are you looking at? Heater bypass valves are a favourite to go on all Omegas and they're a right pain in the arse the change. Make sure the coolant level stays up and when parked there's no leaks from the back of the engine. This would indicate the HBV on its way out. They're also pretty heavy on the suspension being a heavy car so just have a listen for knocks and bangs. Electrics are pretty good 99% of the time but make sure you press every button. We used to have an Omega that decided it liked to open the windows and sunroof at random. This turned out to be the body control module and wasn't a cheap fix. Things like this are rare though.
They're good strong cars, just go with your instinct.

Did you buy one OP? I ask cause I've just bought one. Does what I need of it, and it doesn't look like a 151mph car, as it is technically capable of (not that I've had it up there yet, despite the roads around here being deresitricted) (partly cause I ain't picking it up till thursday either, although I gave it an extensive test drive on monday)
