I've got a 51 plate Zafira 1.8 Elegance which I've had for about 5 years.

It's developed an annoying habit of the alarm going off as I start the engine maybe three or four times a week. It stops after about 30 seconds but there is nothing I can do to stop it beforehand. Stopping the engine and locking/unlocking the car has no effect which it should've with the alarm.

It is the factory unit still in the car. I've checked all the door sensors and they appear ok, so I'm at a loss how to either shut it up or preferably fix the issue.

Anyone else come across a similar problem?

It may be the power sounder for the alarm that's playing up - apparently the battery die in them causing them to go off randomly.

Not the car battery is it? My Astra started doing this but since I bought a new battery, it's been fine.

This, its not an uncommon problem for the sounder to go, most main dealers should keep a few in stock i know that we do. After that i would be looking at the body contol unit ( i think a 51 plate is of the age when they stopped having ECUs for the alarm on its own)

Interesting that you mention the ECU. I managed last year to totally cook the ECU for the car, although they are not positioned in a great place to be kept cool when they are bolted just above the exhaust pipe.

I sent the ECU away to be sorted so could it be still ECU related I wonder scratchchin
