Some technical help please for Astra H 1.9 CDTi

Hello,
Wondering if there is anyone who can offer some advice before I go to the garage as I dont really know much about cars and dont want to appear stupid when I go.
Recently my Astra H 1.9 CDTi (2006 model) has been idling higher than normal, usually its about 800-900 rpm when not in gear but now its sits around 1100-1200 rpm, almost as if I have my foot resting on the accelerater (but I dont).
When I start the car its fine, sits at 800 rpm, but after driving it for a bit, thats when it begins to idle at 1100-1200 rpm when not in gear, i.e. at traffic lights.
This has only started recently, can any one offer some advice as to what this could be please and any cheap fixes if possible?
