Astra EGR valve
Discussion
The damn EGR valve on my diesel van is playing up again, instead of replacing iti'm looking to go down the 'blanking it off' route, I read somewhere that only some Vauxhalls need the ECU altering if the EGR is blanked off, don't suppose anyone on here knows which ones?
Mine is a 2004 2.0 DTi Astravan if that helps!

Physically blanking those is difficult due to the shape of the EGR port in the manifold. If it's a EuroIII version of the engine then it'll complain if you block the EGR and go in to limp mode. If it's the EuroII version, you can just unplug the EGR.
I think the EuroIII has the electrically operated EGR which needs mapped out - but only some ECUs can be remapped at all due to the hybrid CANBUS ECU on those engines.
The EuroII version the EGR is run by a vacuum pipe, which can be disconnected and blocked up, and won't give a limp mode.
My Mk4 Astra started to give trouble with the EGR (2004 2.0DTi), I threw money at it more than once, but it kept throwing the EML and limping (not fun at 80mph in the outside lane up a steep motorway incline). Gave up on it and traded it in.
