Corsa on 0% Finance Offer
Discussion
I am considering buying a Corsa 1.3 CDTI Limited Edition, 3 door, red/black.
Got offered one for £13500, reduced from £14995 from Perrys Aylesbury - del miles.
Whats the compare between 1.3 CDTI and 1.2 petrol ?
£20 a year road tax for 1.3 CDTI diesel version 75 bhp
£90 a year road tax for 1.2 petrol version 85 bhp
Any advice ?
Thanks

The 1.2 petrol is a piece of crap. I had that engine in my Corsa C - it was ridiculously slow, nearly dangerously so (overtaking was a mission, defeated by smallest motorway inclines). That was in a lighter car than the current Corsa, too.
I had a Corsa D with the 1.2 engine for a few weeks while my Vectra was in for repair - it was a dead loss. On the motorway all it could realistically do was 75, anything more I thought I was going to go deaf. That was a Club spec.
The 1.3CDTI is an OK engine as long as you ignore the service intervals and change the oil and filter every 10k or less.
If I were buying a current model Corsa, I'd go for the 1.4 petrol every time. It's the best engine they fit, and that includes the 1.6T.

i have a 1.2 corsa d design 4 door. You really have to rev it to ascertain any type of speed.
Fuel economy is a joke, mid 35 mpg or drive like an old person and get 38-40mpg.
I would go for the diesel and get it remapped, because this car is quite heavy and the centre of gravity feels high up, and feels like driving an mpv.
Handling is very random as the tyres are massive and trick you into feeling like it is a good handler, as the car hides a lot of weight and breaking in corners will kill you.

The 1.3CDTi is the one to go for (bear in mind its the 75ps 1.3 in the limited edition), far far better option than the 1.2 which is at best descibed as 'wheezy' in the Corsa due to the weight of the car.
If they are offering you a Limited Edition 1.3CDTi for £13,500 then bite their arm off, the 1.3CDTi has a list price of over £16k. However if your taking finance make sure they one they are offering you is new & not pre-reg else youll loose the 0% and it will cost a bucket load more on the monthly payments.
