VX are doing a really good deal at the mo, 5 years 0% finance with NO deposit, which suits us as we dont have any money to put down.

Done the usual insurance checks and for me and the OH who's only been driving 2 years its £1100 a year so not too shabby and the tax is a very reasonable £190 for 12 months

Anyone got any real world experiences of these cars? - and before i get a shedload of alternatives that i should have looked at, remember the deal that VX are doing... 5 years 0% and NO DEPOSIT!! if you can find someone to match that with similar car, im all ears smile

Personally hate finance...but it sounds like a good deal. The vxr corsa on the other hand...don't they have some brake problem?

No experience of owning one.

Doubt they would have brake issues - it's basically the same setup as a Z20LET Astra G.

The only problem I've seen highlighted on the 'net is that the standard injectors lean out at high revs causing problems in cylinder number 4 - especially if you remap it

Is that deal only if you pay full list price or can you negotiate?

And what is the price anyway?

Brakes are inadequate for track use (they're only the 208mm Mk5 Astra items, so pretty rubbish). Engine go pop all the time (melted pistons). Usual Vauxhall rubbish handling and horrid dealer backup. Not particularly fast.

I'd rather have a Clio than a Corsa.

hmm...

Dont intend track use. Vauxhall offer 100,000 mile warranty. its mainly for the OH so (hopefully) she wont be driving it on the limit, 0-60 in 6.5 and 140mph... not many cars in its class that can match that, infact 30-70 its quicker than an R32! why would you call it 'not particularly fast' ?

They do, but I recently picked up an Astra less than a year old that got me onto the 100,000 mile warranty and I'm regretting it.

Service is dreadful!

Costs of consumables are horrific! I know you should always shop around, but to be quoted £325.00 + VAT per tyre is a bit much for me!

That is shocking, my local Vaux dealer quoted £160 for a tyre on my Astra VXR at it's last service. It was still £40 more than the independant Tyre/Exhaust place I use.

Indeed, fair enough I'm on 19's, but generic tyre websites point to the fact that I could get a new tyre for £100 if I didn't care about quality, and £200 if I did!!!

You'll need the 100k warranty, but then again you'll find that 95% of things that go wrong aren't covered, or you'll spend months running back to the dealer for stupid tests and them making excuses to avoid fixing it.

certainly not experienced that myself. In 3 years I've only had two issues with my VXR. Passenger Door lock catch went and power steering pump went. All replaced under warranty issue free, at no cost to myself and customer service was fantastic, they couldn't do enough for me. I suppose service differs from one dealer to the next.

The 0% seems to be a Vauxhall/Gmac incentive so costs the dealers nothing. - so usual discounts apply.

Don't forget to log onto the Vauxhall website, navigate to the Corsa page and a £500 voucher should appear. - this can be used on top of any discounts / deals agreed with the dealer.

Aston Vauxhall in Melton Mowbray appear to be one of cheapest dealers for VXRs so have a browse of their site too

Working for a group with both a Vauxhall and a Renault main dealer franchise, the corsa is a much safer bet.

I have a corsa vxr and cn not fault it 34,000 miles now
some vauxhall dealers are not good and the pistons do not melt there can be a problem with piston 4 if thrashed from cold due to thermal shock

and the last and main point i will make is the corsa vxr has 308mm front discs with a braking system that pulls it up very quick

Probably a bit old and big to chat here but just picked up a 1 yr old VXR corsa for occasional use by me for train station duties for work but primarily for the OH. 0 down, rest on Interest free over 5yrs but only the remainder of the manufacturers warentee. Glad I didnt go for the 1.2 special model in the end as think the smaller engine would have annoyed me.

Also spoke to an RAC guy today and he seemed to think they were great little cars with no issues that he has come across. As for service - dealer to dealer it varies greatly just like any manufacturer TBH. My Merc wont ever go to a dealer as they are all rubbish!
As for piston No 4, I agree with others on here, probably not a good idea using cast pistons on FI (experiance with a blown Monaro 600) as they can crack if shocked to much. Im not expecting any issues and have a warentee to fall back on anyhow.

Image is the only slight issue at my age but at least the basic car includes a steering wheel which is more than can be said for the little clios! there just to basic inside.

LOL Gareth. You troll!

Still got the SL, it's looking great now, 20" Brabus wheels, lowered, carbon interior and just waiting for the summer mate. Only a little over 320hp so no rocket but the auto box is very good.

Will have to get a ride in yr GTS next year to see what mine was suppose to be like before the problems started!

Interior trim is very poor and doesn't last - they won't replace anything even a torn seat where the seat meets the airbag plastic trim on the side. Which happens on MOST corsa's 07 onwards. It's a design fault - but Vauxhall don't want to know.

I have a 1.2 design, not bad car and handling is fairly predictable, down to the large width tyres.

Trim bot bad, passenger door latch gone, but everything else is o.k.

vx are a rip off so find a good indie.

It does feel like a mpv in the car but i would defo get the vxr if in the market, the only thing is it does look very loud.
