Black Tie & Pie 2009

Keep 7th November free as BTaP returns for another year.

For those of you who don't know, allow me to introduce the much anticipated event that is BTaP. Every year PHers and their partners gather for an evening of relaxed black tie sophistication while enjoying a fine meal of pie and a few drinks to wash it down with. Before dinner you will 'enjoy' speeches from the PH team and after coffee the dancing starts, carrying on until the early hours. That's the plan anyway, although sometimes the hotel runs out of alcohol and has to pop to a 24 hour supermarket at 01.00am to restock...

For 2009, BTaP returns to Hellidon Lakes in Daventry on the 7th November as they looked after us so well in 2008 - we'll be offering a new version of their fantastic pie too! The charity raffle will happen as per usual, and this year we'll pull our fingers out and organise a proper auction to take place at some ungodly hour in the bar. (Ensuring that a certain PHer can bid over and over again for something he donated to be auctioned in the first place - eh, Jamie?)

Every year BTaP seems to get better and better, so if you have been undecided in the past make this year the one you attend - even if it is only to heckle me while I deliver my speech.

Light refreshments are available

As if further incentive was needed, I am pleased to confirm that the pre-dinner drinks will once again be provided by the good people at Oracle Finance - the PistonHeads finance partner. Thanks guys.

It really is a great night, and the ticket price will be held at the 2008 rate of £75 per person. Tickets will go on sale Friday the 7th August at 12.00 through the PH Shop and as usual places are limited so will be offered on a first come first served basis.

Please note that this year we will be asking you to book your rooms directly with the hotel, rather than through PistonHeads. This ensures that you will get the best rate as it works out cheaper for guests than a block booking - as those of you who attended last year will remember.

Garlick is our drinks and beverage manager, but I'm fairly certain that Smirnoff will have been trying to work out why they saw a huge spike in their midlands based sales early last November ever since...

Can we keep up the Vixpy shoeing between now and 7th November? It can't be hard, let's be honest.

Charlie smells of wee. See, it's like shooting fish

You do, and it's lovely. If looking a bit like Sideshow Bob is your thing.
